Can I work on my computer whilst the back up is taking place? Yes. However, as the backup takes place over the internet and uses your upstream bandwidth, internet access will be slow. Therefore, we recommend you schedule back ups at a time when you are not using your computer, for example overnight. The software also prompts you to do a back up when you shutdown your computer, so this is a good way of backing up your latest files.

How do I schedule the back up to take place at the weekend or overnight? The software has a backup schedule, which enables you to choose the days of the week and times you want a back up to occur.

How long will it take for the initial back up to complete? It takes roughly around 15 hours to back up 2.5GB of data. As the backs up happens in the background whilst the PC is switched on, customers should leave their PC on whilst the back up is still performing to ensure their data is backed up as soon as possible.

Can I interrupt the initial back up i.e. to pause it and then resume at a later time so not to affect internet connectivity? Yes you can cancel the back up. All files that have transferred before you click cancel will have been sent to the server. Once you restart the back up, it resumes from where it left off.

What happens when I reach the GB limit of my existing product, do I receive any notification? You can check how much 'Quota Usage' you have used in the software. Your back up will stop once this quota is reached.

How long does it take to back up files? The speed of the back up depends on the upstream speed of your broadband connection.
Please note that the initial back up of your files will take the longest. We recommend that you start an initial backup at the end of the day and leave this to run overnight, so that all your files can be transferred. Your files can only transfer as fast as the upload speed your broadband service is capable of.
After your initial back up is complete the software uses a technique called Incremental back up, which means it only back up changes you’ve made to your files since your last backed up. The back up storage holds different versions of your backed up files, so if you need to restore an earlier version of a file, you can do this.
